So, we are moving. To Colorado. Cortez to be exact. It has been a crazy month and I want to document the experiences we've had so I don't forget. So, at the end of February we went to a birthday party for Drew & Tanner (who are the kids of Brandon's friend from high school). While we were there we told Andy (B's friend) to keep his eyes open for houses to rent in Louisa, which is where they live. We had decided to move out of our current place and everything for rent in Charlottesville is SO expensive. So we decided to look outside of C-ville because we could get more for our money. About a week or 2 later, Andy text Brandon that they were moving out of their house and would rent it to us if we wanted it. I got super excited because Lousia is only 30 minutes from Charlottesville and their house is newer and on a golf course! And the rent was only like $150 more than we were paying now. So Brandon and I went to look at the house. I fell in LOVE with it. Cutest house ever. On the way home, I called my mom to tell her about it and how excited I was.
While all this was going on, Brandon had decided he wanted to quit his job at Snow's and really go all in with his window business. We got a huge tax return this year so we finally had the money to put into it. So that was our plan: we were going to move to Louisa and Brandon would start working hard at drumming up window business and hopefully it would all work out. Because we were supposed to be in Virginia....
The next day my mom e-mailed me with a job offer from my step-dad Tom. (*Side note- he owns an oil pumping company in Cortez and he takes care of lots of oil wells around that area.) Brandon could take over one of Tom's oil leases and he would make a whole lot of money, he would be his own boss, and he wouldn't have to work Sundays. I called Brandon and told him thinking he wouldn't even consider it. But he surprised me and said he would definitely consider it. We talked about it a lot that night and he ended up calling his brother Corbin to get his advice. The outcome of that talk basically simplified things for us. We were considering trying the window thing just so Brandon knew he had tried and wouldn't feel like a failure. If it didn't work, we could take the job with Tom. But Corbin advised Brandon to let his pride go with the window business and just pray about what was best for our family and where we needed to be.
Thus began about a week and a half of praying praying praying. We felt so conflicted because on one hand, it was a no brainer! The job in Colorado would provide us with a good, stable job and financial security. Not to mention we would be so much closer to family. But we felt so strongly when we moved here that we were supposed to be here. And we thought that meant for good.
Brandon asked a man in our ward who was best friends with his dad when they lived out here to come and give him a priesthood blessing. We felt like that would give us some clarity. In the mean time, I was thinking about why we were supposed to come here if we ended up moving less than a year later. A few things came to mind but one in particular was that my mother-in-law was able to come out here for the first time in almost ten years. She was able to see close friends that she hadn't seen since before my father-in-law passed away. I think it was good for her as well as her friends here. That feeling was validated when, before Brandon got his blessing, Brother S said that same thing. It made me realize that the feeling I had definitely came from the spirit and wasn't just me!
So the blessing didn't really say one way or the other what we should do but made it clear that we would know if our decision was right either way. We decided to take the job in Colorado. We felt good about it and felt like it was the best thing for our family. We said a prayer together after Brother S left and that feeling was confirmed. Then after talking for a few minutes, Brandon mentioned he had gotten a text right before the blessing and he hadn't checked it. It was from his friend Andy letting us know that plans had changed and that they weren't moving anymore. Talk about a confirmation! B was so glad he waited to check that message just we knew that it didn't affect our decision.
Anyway, that's the long story. We are moving this next week. This whole experience has definitely reaffirmed my testimony of prayer and submitting our will to do what the Lord wants us to do. Everything just worked out and was timed so perfectly, it was amazing. We are sad to leave Virginia and the friends we have made here but are so excited to start this new chapter in our lives. And we can't wait to see our family and friends back in Utah!

What an amazing story and testimony builder! Glad I got to read it, eventhough I had heard it once already it was great to read again! Thanks for being who you are Holley and for the example that you are in mine and my girls' lives! We love you (and your adorable family)!
